After reopening the restaurant section of Tote on the Turf,as Neel,deGustibus Hospitality, headed by Rahul and Malini Akerkar,is set to reopen the bar this weekend. With a 40-foot-long counter, the bar at Tote on the Turf has breathtaking interiors that won it the Best Bar Design last year in London. However,in spite of this,it didn’t quite hit the spot, and shut down in May.

“We shut due to problems with sound and space,” says Malini. “When it got crowded,it created a tunnel effect, making it difficult for people to move around.”

In addition to rewiring their sound systems, the company has roped in Network Prive, which helps luxury brands create programmes among other things. The Akerkars have hired this Mumbai-based consultancy to ensure that the entertainment at the bar is taken care of.

“Apart from bringing in diverse genres of music,we plan to host live bands a few times a month,” says Mickhael Pinto,a partners at Network Prive. “We will also develop special properties for Halloween,New Year’s Eve and Christmas to pull in large and diverse crowds.”
