Maharashtra, which is the country’s startup capital, will be able to reap huge benefits from the policies announced by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the 2025-26 Union Budget, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Saturday.

“Enhanced loans up to Rs 20 crore for startups will work to Maharashtra’s advantage as the state has the highest number of startups in India,” he said. Special incentives to 100 districts, boost to oilseed production, and 100 per cent procurement will also help farmers in the state, Fadnavis stated.

“From the preliminary information, it can be said that the Budget has set aside Rs 683 crore to improve connectivity in the state, Rs 100 crore for agro businesses in Maharashtra, Rs 1,094 crore for Economic Cluster, and Rs 186 crore for our irrigation projects. However, a detailed examination will have to be made before we can determine the total allocation to the state,” he said.

“The tax exemption for income up to Rs 12 lakh brings huge relief to the middle class across the country. While promising rural transformation and higher investments in urbanisation, the budget has addressed every sector and segment,” the BJP leader added.

He also praised the decision to promote infrastructure development with interest-free loans to states for up to 50 years, pointing out that Maharashtra has among the most number of mega infrastructure projects.

The budget under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership is a giant step towards achieving Viksit Bharat and it will strengthen our economy, addressing the concerns of the middle class, farmers, youths and labourers, Fadnavis said.
