An officer from the Versova police station said after the deal was struck, the dummy customer was taken to the third floor apartment at the New MHADA building, when the police raided the apartment around 11.30 pm.

The police said the rescued women, who were in their late twenties, were sent to a shelter home, while Kiran Thakur (35) and Satish Shah (28) were arrested.

“Investigation revealed that the accused had taken the room on rent. We are trying to ascertain for how long they had been managing the illicit business in the area. The accused were booked under sections of Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act and were produced before the Mazgaon court that remanded them in police custody,” said Harishchandra Parmale, senior police inspector of Versova police station.
