A two-year-old child survived a three-floor fall in Dombivali area of Thane on Saturday with a passerby making a failed attempt to catch the child, providing him a buffer, and saving his life. The man was praised for his alertness after a CCTV video of the incident was widely shared on social media platforms. The incident took place in the Devichapada area of Dombivali (East) when the child was playing on the balcony of his residence. The glass of the balcony grill was removed for painting purposes. Through the gap, the child sneaked out and was seen hanging from the balcony before he fell down. Passerby Bhavesh Mhatre who was at the spot saw the child hanging from the balcony and rushed to catch him. Though he could not grab the kid, he managed to minimise the impact of the fall, thus saving the child’s life, said a person who witnessed the incident. “I had come to my friend’s place and was passing by when I heard a woman screaming from the building. I saw a child hanging from the balcony and rushed to catch him. He did not sustain any injury and his life was saved. I’m happy I could save the boy’s life,” said.
