Earth Hour will bring in a romantic twist to Saturday night celebrations 8.30 pm. Lights off. Candles on. Welcome,Earth Hour. Millions around the globe will come together to observe an hour dedicated to the Earth, that pledges support to the Green cause. In Pune, the Saturday night fever will begin with romance. Restaurants, hotels and lounge bars are calling out to couples to spend Earth Hour with a candle light dinner,a green menu and a green bar selection. All lights will be switched off at our F&B outlets Kangan,Prego,Season al Tastes and Mix@36 , says Binal Ghelani, marketing communications manager,The Westin. The hotel began promoting this cause earlier in the week and has already garnered a good response and table bookings. Guests can enjoy quiet candle light dinners and take their pick from the special Green Snack menu, she adds. The Green Cocktail, which has organic wine in it,has already been the top order on most bills since March 20. As city lights will flicker off, even the popular Terttulia bar and restaurant at Koregaon Park will show its support for the environment. It promises a Saturday night with a twist. It's a win-win situation - couples can pledge their love and support for the cause and for each other at the same time. Their night will begin with drinks and conversations, light music in the background and the glow of the candle between them. Our Tapas bar and even our outer area will be illuminated with candles for that entire hour. We also have special green apple martinis and other minty cocktails and mocktails for guests, says owner Imrun Sethi. And post 9.30,as the sparkling lights come on,the music will pick up pace and lead the party on. A celebration for the earth,Sethi adds. Ditto will be the case at another favourite Saturday night spot the very classy Stone Water Grill. The low seating area will be lit up with multiple candles, and so will the the fine dining section. That will be the only light during Earth Hour. We want to create a beautiful ambience, and thus our water-body areas will have floating candles and colourful flowers. Even our kitchen will have minimal lighting in support of this cause, says Shailendra Kekade. Since it's Saturday night, these eateries are sure of a large turnout. Adding more romance to the cause, the Westin will also show a special Earth Hour video in its main lobby and will even gift plants to guests. Our day will begin with a drive to clean-up the Mula Mutha river bed along our hotels property. And later, guests can ready themselves for the evening to follow, Ghelani adds.
