Pune will soon have another campus of Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (YASHADA) at Tathawade.
Some 47.69 hectares land, located on Survey No 48,is being acquired from the Animal Husbandary department for the new campus that will house Yashadas Deemed University. A government resolution has been passed to this effect. We have received the GR copy and will soon complete the land handing over process, said a district official. A 45-meter road, adjacent to the site, has been approved.
As almost all training sessions were conducted at the present Yashada campus, the proposal for another campus was put up before the government six months ago. Space in the present Yashada building where training is imparted to government officials and rural and urban non-officials and stakeholders was a little inadequate. The new campus will house more buildings for training of bureaucrats as well as government officials, officials said.
Yashada was set up in 1990 as a tribute to the pioneering work of late former chief minister Y B Chavan. The present campus is situated adjacent to Raj Bhavan Complex on Baner Road and is close to Pune University gate. Officials said the new campus is equipped with appropriate infrastructure and facilities required for the smooth functioning of the Academy. The management development centre has been designed and established as a self-contained fully residential state-of-the-art training facility. Another sub-centre at Nanded is likely to
close down.
