CBSE declares classes 10, 12 results: Of preparation, perspiration and percentages

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) that conducted the classes 10 and 12 exams from February 15 to April 2, released the much-anticipated results on Monday. In Pune, 96.46 per cent students passed the class 10 exam, while 89.78 per cent candidates passed the class 12 exams.

“I’m extremely happy with the AISSCE results. Finally I can start applying for admission to colleges,” says Shaurya Gupta, who scored 98.8 per cent, the highest in Kalyani School, Pune.

Varija Sharma, who scored 98.2 per cent, the highest in Delhi Public School, said, “I’m grateful for my results, now I can prepare for CUET and hopefully get admission in a college of my choice with a major in Psychology.”

Meera Nair, Director and Principal of Amanora said, “This year, there was an increase in the number of questions that needed higher-order thinking skills to solve, due to modifications in the class 12 exam paper pattern, making them more analytical. Although students found Physics challenging, their diligent preparation enabled them to grasp the content effectively and we are extremely proud of each one of them.”

Pune div ranks 9/16

With a higher percentage of students this year who passed class 12 as compared with last year, Pune division ranked nine among CBSE’s 16 administrative regions in India. In class 12, the percentage of students who passed stood at 89.78 per cent as compared with last year’s 87.28 per cent, showing an increase of 2.8 per cent.

On the other hand, Pune city saw a dip in the number of students who passed CBSE class 10 exam as compared with the previous year, ranking sixth among CBSE’s 16 administrative regions across the country. In class 10, the pass percentage stood at 96.46 per cent as compared with last year’s 96.92 per cent.

Special needs kids

“We are extremely proud of our CWSN (children with special needs) students and their success in their respective fields. They have converted their weaknesses into their strengths,” said Mrs Rupan Jaiswal, Principal of Army Public School, Khadki.

Anuj Santosh Shirke, a CWSN student with a learning disability, secured a 70 per cent in humanities stream in CBSE class 12 exams from Army Public School, Khadki. “14 students with special needs from Pune’s Delhi Public School have excelled in 2024 CBSE exam, showcasing perseverance and academic excellence despite challenges such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia and autism spectrum disorder.

They received concessions as per CBSE Bye-Laws,” said Amita Singh, Principal of DPS Pune.

Jia Bassi from Class X in Delhi Public School stood out with a remarkable 94.14 per cent and a 98/ 100 in Mathematics.
