An employee of the Chitale Bandhu Mithailwale franchise in the city was allegedly robbed in broad daylight when on the way to the bank for depositing the daily cash collection of Rs 5.95 lakh. Pointing a sharp weapon at Sunil Bhor (37),an employee of Shiv Santosh Dugdhalaya at Deccan Gymkhana,three unidentified men robbed all the money from him around 9.45 in the morning on Thursday. The incident took place outside the Deccan Gymkhana branch of the Bank of Maharashtra. Bhor,a resident of Lower Indira Nagar in Bibwewadi,has lodged a complaint with the Deccan Gymkhana police . According to the police,Bhor went to the bank in a car. While the driver Suresh Marne (55) parked the car,Bhor walked towards the bank with the cash bag. Bhor was about to enter the bank when two unidentified men launched an attack on him. Bhor was holding the bag firmly in his hands. So the duo threatened him with a sharp weapon. They then snatched the bag from Bhor and ran towards their accomplice standing on the other side of the road with two motorcycles. The trio then made their gateway on the two bikes.
Car driver Marne chased the robbers but could not follow them as one of the robbers escaped towards Narayan Peth via Bhide Bridge and the other two went in a different direction.
Assistant Commissioner (crime) Sangramsinh Nishandar,divisional Assistant Commissioner Savita Turekar,police inspector D S Bijwe visited the crime scene. While different angles are being probed,police also suspect an insider’s hand in the robbery.
In a similar incident on February 12 this year,a gang of three unidentified men had attacked the employees of Gokul Dairy,a franchise of Chitale Bandhu in Erandwane and decamped with cash of Rs 6.3 lakh.
