NFDC-NFAI has been working on the restorations for the past several months. (Express archives) National Film Archive of India (NFAI), Pune, which is now part of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), will organise a four-day festival of late actor Dev Anand’s films to mark the centenary of the screen icon’s birth. The legendary actor was born on September 26, 1923.
Seven films of Dev Anand will be screened at the main auditorium of the Film Archive on Law College Road between September 23 and 26. The entry will be free on a first-come first-served basis.

As per officials, keeping the centenary in mind, NFDC-NFAI has been working on the restorations for the past several months under which each and every frame is being restored meticulously, digitally removing splices, pinholes, and scratches.
“The four-day festival will allow the viewers to spend the weekend with Dev Anand in his many iconic roles from ‘Baazi’(1951), ‘CID’ (1956), ‘Asli-Naqli’(1962), ‘Tere Ghar Ke Samne’ (1963), ‘Guide’ (1965), ‘Jewel Thief’ (1967), and ‘Johny Mera Naam’ (1970),” a press statement issued by the Archives said.

The screenings will be a mix of 35 mm prints and 4K restorations, in their original aspect ratios, with ‘Baazi’, ‘Asli-Naqli’, ‘Tere Ghar Ke Samne’ in 35 mm prints and ‘CID’, ‘Guide’, ‘Jewel Thief’, and ‘Johny Mera Naam’ in 4K resolution.
