Dina row: Hearing today,students say results withheld

The bail plea of Ajit Kumar Oberoi and wife Inderjot Kaur,executive director and managing director of Undri-based Dina Institute of Hotel and Business Management,respectively,will come up for hearing on Tuesday.

The bail plea of Ajit Kumar Oberoi and wife Inderjot Kaur,executive director and managing director of Undri-based Dina Institute of Hotel and Business Management,respectively,will come up for hearing on Tuesday.

The duo was arrested by the Chatuhshrungi police on Wednesday for allegedly cheating around 44 students of its Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM) course to the tune of over Rs 50 lakh.

Meanwhile,eight students of the PGDBM 2008-10 batch submitted an affidavit in the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court on Monday stating that the institute has held back their final year results.

“The institute has refused to hand over results of eight students for demand of withdrawal of their complaint against the institute. We have filed an affidavit in the court in this regard,” said advocate Sudarshan Shah,counsel for the students. JMFC PK Deshpande,after hearing the arguments on both sides,said a decision on their bail plea will be taken on Tuesday. The Chatuhshrungi police had filed a chargesheet against the two under IPC sections 420 and 34 for cheating. The duo has been remanded in magisterial custody till Wednesday.

As many as 44 students of the institute’s PGDBM 2007-09 and 2008-10 batches had lodged a complaint with the Chatuhshrungi police saying the institute was charging excess fee and running the course full-time,when the University of Pune has specified it as a part-time course.
