Nature conservationist Amruta Rane,working for Nature Conservation Foundation,Mysore gave a lecture on Biodiversity and Conservation of Nature's Bounty at the Zoology department of Nowrosjee Wadia College in the city recently.

Nature conservationist Amruta Rane,working for Nature Conservation Foundation,Mysore gave a lecture on Biodiversity and Conservation of Nature’s Bounty at the Zoology department of Nowrosjee Wadia College in the city recently. Talking about the various methods of conservation of endemic flora and fauna used in the small islets of Mauritius,she urged the students to make efforts towards conserving the depleting flora and fauna in and around Pune.

Modern College wins SaeIndia Efficycle 2011

Team Pegasus of PES Modern College of Engineering Pune stood first at the all-India level SaeIndia Efficycle 2011 and won prize money of Rs 1,00,000 along with best design,best marketing strategy and cost evaluation worth Rs 50,000 from Punjab University. The event was held at University Institute of Engineering and Technology,Punjab University,Chandigarh recently. About 90 teams participated in the competition from across the country and the theme was to design and manufacture a three wheeled human powered electric hybrid vehicle. The vehicle was completely manufactured in the college workshop of PES Modern College of Engineering,Pune. Pegasus team members included Rohan Shinde Team leader student of BE,(Mech),Sohan Sontakke,Rohit Kavade,Sourabh Shinde,Sanskar Bapat,Yogeshwar Hagawane,Sourabh Dharangaonkar,Chetan Zambare.

Cryptographer Diffie delivers speech at CoEP

Renowned American cryptographer,Whitfield Diffie delivered a speech at the College of Engineering,Pune (CoEP) as a part of the Uniken Innovation lecture series 2011. “The only technology that gives control over your information is cryptography. I am more concerned about individual privacy and cryptography is going to be the mainstay of any communication technology.” he said. He has joined Uniken as the scientific advisor. The Diffie-Hellman algorithm key,published in 1976 made the e-commerce possible,ensuring transactions are secure. The lecture series was organised by Uniken in association with Shantanurao Kirloskar Chair (University of Pune),College of Engineering Pune (COEP) and Centre for Innovation,Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE) IIM-Ahmedabad,at COEP campus recently.
