Two teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), one column of the Indian Army, and multiple teams from the Fire Department have been deployed proactively for Pune city and surrounding areas due to heavy rain and discharge from various dams. Amidst continuous water discharge from several key dams in the Pune district, the district administration and municipal corporations of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporations have warned residents of flooding in low-lying areas. An officer from the Talegaon-headquartered 5th Battalion of the NDRF said, "On Saturday night, discussions were held with district administration and civic officials. Due to continuous rainfall and red alert in Pune district, two teams have been proactively deployed in Balewadi and Pimpri-Chinchwad. These teams will respond to any situation in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and surrounding areas. Meanwhile, teams remain deployed in Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara and coastal districts." Following the requisition from the Pune district collector, one column of the Indian Army, comprising engineering and medical components, has been moved for pre-positioning in the Ekta Nagar area on Sinhagad Road, which witnessed heavy flooding on July 25. Meanwhile, multiple teams from fire departments of Pune City, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) have been deployed in the low-lying areas.
