FTII students stage protest

Continuing their agitation against the recommendations of the Hewitt Committee report.

Continuing their agitation against the recommendations of the Hewitt Committee report,students of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) here on Saturday staged a peaceful demonstration outside the campus gates.

Though they had originally planned to take out a full-fledged rally till Alka Talkies it could not be done.

“The police refused us permission for the rally,so we decided to hold a demonstration in front of the campus,” said FTII student coucil president Samarth Dixit.

The students have been protesting that the existing infrastructure at the institute has not been upgraded in keeping with the increase in the student intake.

R Shukla,a student,said,says,“We want the PK Nair committee to rework the entire report as the Hewitt report is advocating that exorbitantly-priced courses be introduced. That is not what the institute stands for.” The students are alsoplanning to write to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry on the issue.
