The JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) Advanced 2024 results were announced amidst some jubilation and surprises as the cutoff rose by 23 marks, compared to last year.

Shaurya Agarwal, Pune topper and all-India rank 21 holder said, “The paper was easier than what I was expecting, on the basis of the papers from the last three-four years, even though the chemistry section was slightly on the harder side. Overall, it went well and it was a positive experience.”

Shaurya, who attempted this paper for the first time, was also the Pune topper in the JEE Mains. Having cleared both these exams, he plans to go to Cambridge University for further studies.

“While preparing for JEE, I had to sacrifice my time for fitness, but I am eager to take up sports like cricket again. Along with that, I am fond of subjects like Economics, History and Political Science and hope to continue learning them in the future in some capacity,” he added.

Centre Head for ALLEN, Pune, Arun Jain said, “JEE Advanced was relatively easier compared to the last five years, hence the cutoff was relatively higher. Overall, ALLEN Pune students have performed very well, with 55 students ranking in the top 10,000.”

Lalit Kumar, founder of Prime Academy said, “The students this year were caught in a surprise, there was an increase in the cutoff this time – it was 86 for the previous year and now, it rose up to 109. There were also more students that appeared for the exam this time.”

He added, “The overall complexity of the problems of JEE 2024 was less. Even students without a strong inclination towards mathematics and science were able to identify and solve easier questions with the right strategy and good guidance. Notably, this year’s Maths paper was particularly easy.”

Bhargava Kolapalle, a 17-year-old who scored 172 out of 360, to get an all India rank of 5067 said, “I have been preparing for the exam from 11th grade, and earlier I used to spend 7 hrs engaging in self study, apart from the time I spent at coaching and it gradually increased. I liked playing and watching cricket but I had to cut down time from that to focus on my studies. But it was all worth it in the end as I am happy with my results.”
