The MNS suffered a jolt on Monday as party activist and Ward 51 president Prasad Arvind Kulkarni resigned along with 77 local office bearers and 251 workers. Kulkarni was seeking ticket for his sister Sayali Kulkarni from Panel 37. However, the party gave Supriya Khadilkar the poll ticket from this panel.
Sayalis name was not included in the voters list initially. It was, however, included later after she moved High Court against the government offices concerned and got an order in her favour.
MNS city unit president Bala Shedge said,We did not want to take a risk as Sayalis name was not included in the voters list initially. Also, there were other candidates from the same panel who had appeared for our written exam and interview for civic elections. We selected the better among them.
Kulkarni said the MNS local leadership was partial and doing injustice to dedicated party workers. He claimed that Khadilkar was a Congress activist, who had contested elections on a Congress ticket earlier. Sayali is now contesting as an Independent and is supported by the Congress.
