Kolhapur man dies of swine flu,PMC toll 20

A 32-year-old man from Kolhapur’s Ajra district died of swine flu late on Sunday night at Sahyadri Hospital,taking the death toll in PMC limits since January to 20.

A 32-year-old man from Kolhapur’s Ajra district died of swine flu late on Sunday night at Sahyadri Hospital,taking the death toll in PMC limits since January to 20.

Dr S T Pardeshi,acting chief medical officer,said most of the patients were from outside Pune but came to the city for treatment.

The victim had been suffering from fever and cough since April 10. He had metrostenosis from nine months but was not on regular medication. He was initially provided symptomatic treatment and was later shifted to Sahyadri Hospital on Karve Road. He,however,succumbed to the virus and died of acute respiratory distress syndrome.

As many as 171 people have tested positive for swine flu and 11,941 people have been given Tamiflu so far.
