The DEHU Road Cantonment Board (DCB) on Friday elected Leelavati Kalbhor as new vice-president replacing Sanjay Pinjan.
Spokesman of Dehu Road Cantonment Board N M Mahajani said,Leelavatai Kalbhor was elected unanimously at the board meeting held today.
The election to the office of VP came after a notification earlier issued by the Union Defence Ministry which asked the cantonment board to hold the election that was due for over last five months. The defence Ministry had asked for convening of a special board meeting to hold the election to the office of vice-president in September last year.
Pinjan held the office for 20 months unlike his predessor Ashok Shelar who was in office for 14 months. Pinjan said it was decided that Kalbhor will hold office for the next one year after which Asha Kaspatay will take over. This is to give women a chance in the governance of the cantonment board, he said.
