MEDA honours DFPCL for energy conservation

Deepak Fertilisers And Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd has been honoured by the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) – a state government level nodal agency under the aegis of Bureau of Energy Efficiency – Ministry of Power,Central Government.

Deepak Fertilisers And Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd has been honoured by the Maharashtra Energy Development Agency (MEDA) – a state government level nodal agency under the aegis of Bureau of Energy Efficiency – Ministry of Power,Central Government. DFPCL has received the top award for Excellence in Energy Conservation & Management 2009-10 for the Chemical Industries sector. In 2008-09,DFPCL has won the second place for the same category.

The main aim of the awards is to recognize companies and sectors that have taken steps towards efficient utilization,management and conservation of energy and also to encourage the industry as a whole towards conserving energy. Globally,with increasing stress being laid on saving non-renewable resources and saving energy,these awards gain considerable significance for the state of Maharashtra,DPCL stated. Dr Rajeev Chemburkar,president – Chemicals,DFPCL,said,“This award is a testament to the company’s efforts towards making a positive change.” DFPCL has always laid emphasis on energy efficiency and conservation. Back in 2008,the company even formed a special department internally for Energy Conservation and Productivity Improvement,it was stated. MEDA supported by the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy,New Delhi,was created in 1985,in line with the central government policy of energy conservation and encouraging use of renewable energy. MEDA’s primary objective is to undertake development of renewable energy and facilitate energy conservation in the state of Maharashtra. The Minister of Non-Conventional Energy,Maharashtra State is the chairman of the governing body of MEDA.
