Murder charges withdrawn,suicide abetment case filed

Withdrawing the murder charges slapped against Mirilal Pingle,his brother Hanumant and sister-in-law Sushma in the case of Mirilal’s lover’s,Deepa Mhaskar (21),death due to burns in Yerawada,police have now filed a case of abetment to suicide against him.

Investigations have also revealed that the two were married. On the afternoon of October 11,Deepa’s body was found completely burnt in Mirilal’s house after she had gone to meet him along with her mother. Yerawada police had charged the three of murder and had arrested them.

Deepak Sawant,senior police inspector with Yerawada police station,said,“During the investigations,we interrogated some eyewitnesses and came to know that it was suicide. Deepa’a mother,who had filed the complaint with us,recently gave us a photo copy of a suicide note written by Deepa. We suspect that the original note was with Deepa which was destroyed in the fire.”

The note also revealed that Deepa had got pregnant and the two had married in Tulapur. Three days after the marriage Deepa had gone for abortion.

The day when Deepa and her mother Vandana and brother Chetan went to meet Mirilal to ask why he was calling her the previous day,they were beaten up by Mirilal’s family members. Deepa then locked the door from inside and allegedly set herself ablaze in which she died.
