NCP minister Dhananjay Munde and Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange Patil (Express Archives)Manoj Jarange Patil on Monday said that Dhananjay Munde, who is now an NCP Minister, and his associate Walmik Karad, who had been arrested in the Beed sarpanch murder case under MCOCA, had come to meet him before the assembly elections.
”Dhananjay Munde had come to meet me before the assembly elections… He had been calling for eight days. He had come to meet me at 2 in the morning. Karad had accompanied him. They had waited for a long time to meet me and that’s why I met them… He told me … to take care of him. He introduced Karad to me,” said Jarange Patil on Monday.
Jarange Patil said Munde told him to “keep him in mind” during the election. ”While leaving, he touched my feet,” Jarange Patil said.
On the issue of reservation, the activist said, “The Maratha community will get reservation cent per cent.”
He urged the Maratha youths not to end their lives while demanding reservation. ”Yesterday, some youths ended their lives in Beed, Jalna and Sillod. Youths should not end their lives, they should educate themselves,” he said.
Jarange Patil urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to ensure reservation for the Maratha community before more youths ended their lives. ”How many more youths should end their lives. The Chief Minister should consider the Maratha youths as his own and ensure early reservation… Otherwise the community will have to launch a massive agitation,” he said.
