Some of the arterial roads in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad will remain closed to vehicular traffic on Anant Chaturdashi for the Ganesh Visarjan procession. Only emergency services like ambulances,fire tenders and vehicles of MSEDCL will be allowed to pass during the traffic diversion.
Two important routes of the procession,Laxmi Road and Shivaji Road,will remain closed from 7 in the morning to the conclusion of the procession. Bagade Road,Guru Nanak Road and Tilak Road will remain closed from 9 am. The Kelkar Road stretch from Budhwar Chowk to Tilak Chowk and and Ganesh Road stretch from Daruwala Bridge to Jijamata Chowk will be closed to traffic from 10 am. The diversions will be in place until the visarjan is over.
Pedestrians using Laxmi Road have been asked to use the right side of the stretch from Belbag Chowk to Tilak Chowk. All vehicles coming from Satara Road will be diverted via Shankarshet Road,Golibar Maidan Chowk,Khunya Maruti Chowk,Mammadevi Chowk,Bhirobanala Chowk and the Circuit House. Vehicles coming from Satara and going towards Mumbai and vice-versa will not be allowed to enter the city and will have to use the bypass instead. Parking of vehicles other than those belonging to emergency services has been prohibited on the day of Visarjan on Laxmi Road,Kumthekar Road,Tilak Road,Shastri Roads and their bylanes,said DCP Vishwas Pandhare in a press note.
In Pimpri-Chinchwad,the entry to Chapekar chowk from the Pune Mumbai Highway side has been closed. Processions from Pimprigaon will proceed via the Ahilya Devi Chowk and Nehrunagar Road and Pimpri Railway overbridge.
