A construction worker was killed and three more were seriously injured after a slab from an under-construction building in Pune Camp area collapsed on them on Tuesday afternoon. Police said they will investigate if negligence on the part of any person led to the collapse.
A group of workers were engaged in undertaking various construction works at the site, located on Sachapir Street in Camp. “A part of the slab on the fourth floor of the under-construction building suddenly collapsed. The four injured were rushed to a hospital. While one of the labourers was pronounced dead, the three others are undergoing treatment for their injuries,” said Girish Dighavkar, senior inspector at Lashkar police station. “The police were informed after the injured were taken to the hospital,” Dighavkar added.
Police have identified the deceased as Shubhankar Jadhba Mandal (21), a native of South 24 Parganas District of West Bengal. The injured have been identified as Chheni Mangal Mukherjee (21), Barun Rai (24) and Sanyashi Badhadi (28), residents of the same region of West Bengal.
“A probe will be conducted into whether negligence on any person’s part led to the mishap.” an officer from Lashkar police station said.
