University of Pune authorities on Sunday announced a three-member committee to look into the issues plaguing the hostel like inadequate facilities and the need for new hostel blocks.

Though the decision to form the committee was taken last year,it wasn’t implemented till now. This was brought to the notice of the vice-chancellor by senate member Santosh Dhore who had moved an adjournment motion on the issue last year “After I moved the adjournment motion, the then vice-chancellor Narendra Jadhav had directed the authorities to form a panel to look into the issues but that wasn’t implemented. I brought this up at the meet and the vice-chancellor immediately announced the formation of a committee,” said Dhore.

The committee will comprise senate members Dadabhau Shinalkar,Shashikant Tikote and Dhore.

“We are planning to carry out a detail study of the problem faced by students in hostels. Issues like lack of amenities and uncleanliness would be discussed with the students. We will also look into the demands of the new hostel blocks to accommodate more students,” said Dhore.
