Continuing its focus on improving traffic and public transport in the city, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) proposes to undertake new road projects on Ganeshkhind road and river bridges.
Among the new projects to be undertaken in the next financial year includes grade separators at Ganeshkhind road and Kharadi, underpasses across railway lines, flyover in Yerawada and a river bridge from Nanded city to Shivane.
The Ganeshkhind road has been facing traffic problems due to ongoing work of elevated Metro rail along with a flyover. The Pune civic body had demolished two flyovers on Ganeshkhind road. Now, the PMRDA is constructing a double-decker bridge with the top deck for elevated Metro route and lower deck as a flyover for vehicular traffic. The ongoing work is expected to be completed in the next few months after which the PMC plans to start work on grade separators.
