Prohibitory orders at Bhushi dam, surrounding areas

The order states that these restrictions are to be jointly enforced by police, forest department, Lonavala municipal council and Railways.

Pune district administration on Tuesday issued prohibitory orders for Bhushi dam and its surrounding areas in Lonavala where five persons including four children from a family in Pune had drowned after they were washed away in a strong current on June 30.

The prohibitory orders were issued by Maval Mulshi Sub Divisional Officer Surendra Navale under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita which pertains to power to issue order in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended danger.

The orders have been enforced from July 2 to July 31 and will be applied for Bhushi Dam, the west weir of Bhushi dam, three waterfalls near Sahara bridge, Tiger point, Lions Points and Shivling points.

The prohibitory orders are as follows. The parking of vehicles in front of Sahara Bridge has been completely banned. The access to three waterfalls near Sahara Bridge has been prohibited. Access to the area uphill from the Railway Guest House near Bhushi dam has been completely prohibited.

Access to the waterfalls in the forest area ahead of the west weir of the Bhushi dam has been completely banned. Tiger point, Lions Points and Shivling Points will be closed for tourists between 6 pm and 6 am.

The order states that these restrictions are to be jointly enforced by police, forest department, Lonavala municipal council and Railways. Full time forest guards are to be deployed in these areas.

The order states that those found in violation will be prosecuted under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita which pertains to the threat of injury to induce a person to refrain from applying for protection to public servant.
