(Representational/ File)Around 8,000 resident doctors across government medical colleges who had planned an indefinite strike under the aegis of the Maharashtra Resident Doctors Association (MARD), decided to withdraw their stir on Wednesday evening.
Dr Abhijeet Helge, president of MARD, said representatives from MARD met Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and state Medical Education Minister Hassan Mushrif.
“Authorities patiently heard our demands and agreed to grant necessary funds and fast track PWD work for repair work at hostels and construction of new hostel premises,” MARD office-bearers said in a statement.
They also agreed to ensure regular monthly payment of stipends, general secretary, MARD, Dr Rahul Munde, and state convenor Dr Shubham Soni said.
