Pune seeks additional space for courts to clear pendency of cases

To clear pendency of cases in courts,Pune district has sought additional space for courts

To clear pendency of cases in courts,Pune district has sought additional space for courts.

In a recent video-conference with chief secretary Jayant Banthia,Collector Vikas Deshmukh along with officials from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC),Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Public Works Department (PWD) discussed the availability of space for fast-track courts and other courts.

With a lot of burden on Shivajinagar court,it was decided that additional space be made available to carry out procedures in the city and outskirts.

“The video-conference was held to discuss the availability of space for these courts. If more space is made available, pending cases will be cleared fast. We are looking for buildings that can be utilised for the same,’’ said Deshmukh.

The demand for additional space came up after there were several complaints about the pendency of cases owing to lack of space for hearings.

“The civic bodies and the PWD have suggested sites for the courts,’’ he added.

The PMC has suggested three sites,PCMC three-four sites and PWD two sites. The government would check on the feasibility before zeroing on these spots.
