The police have booked a quack for allegedly blackmailing and raping a 33-year-old married woman against assurances to free her home from black magic. Police have also booked Prakash Devidas Pawars wife Pallavi and aides Rupesh Chavan,Sunny,Atul and Khujem Siyamwala. The woman had lodged a complaint at the Cantonment police station. Police inspector Sushma Chavan told media that the victim runs a shop in Pune Cantonment area. A few years ago,Pawar had come to the shop as a customer and developed friendly relations with the victims husband. Later,Pawar claimed that he had spiritual powers and told the victims husband that someone has done black magic on their house and that he would free their house from black magic after which the victims husband called him to his home. Pawar then started visiting victims home frequently and developed friendly relations with all family members. later,he started blackmailing the woman,saying she should come with him if she wanted to free her home from black magic. In 2005,Pawar allegedly raped the victim. Thereafter he continued to blackmail her,took her to Kolkata and Kolhapur and raped her several times,police said,adding that her husband came to know about it in 2010. But they did not approach the police at that time. In January this year,Pawar allegedly adopted the victims younger son. In her complaint,the victim said Pawar allegedly pointed a gun on her husband and forced him to sign the adoption documents. Police said Pawars wife was present when the adoption documents were forcibly signed. Following a complaint on Thursday,the police booked Pawar and other suspects under Section 376 (rape),420 (cheating) and other sections of the Indian Penal Code.
