As the city gets ready to host the 83rd Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan,a civic activist has raised objections to Pune Municipal Corporation’s plan to divert Rs 51 lakh from civic heath projects.

Activist Ajay Vaishampayan has written a letter to municipal commissioner Mahesh Zagade seeking a clarification on the PMC’s move to donate the amount for the literary meet.

In the letter,Vaishampayan has stated,“The civic body should have at least invited suggestions and objections from citizens. As per the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporations (BPMC) Act,a civic body cannot provide financial aid beyond Rs 25,000 for any kind of public function or entertainment programme. ”
