I want to begin from where I had stopped, reinstating powerful roles like the ones in Satta and Shool instead of going back to the younger days. Our cinema has drastically improved over the years and it offers a more tough range for performance,” says Raveena Tandon while reviewing her work and the cinema over the period. And as she readies for a return, the actress popular for a sequence of commercial films like Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi and Mohra will began shooting this month for a bilingual film in Bengali and Hindi- The Laboratory on a story written by Rabindranath Tagore. “The film will be directed by National Award winner Raja Sen where I play a Punjabi women who revives the laboratory of her husband after his death. Though it is too early to comment, the second film will be shot in Rajasthan and it’s a female oriented one,” she informs.

Dedicating the long hiatus to her kids, the actress who was in the city to inaugrate VLCC’s centre at Mukund Nagar also spoke about her personal experience on weight fluctuations. “I had a tough time during this break while sticking to a disciplined life which I was very particular about all through my acting days. While my eating habits had gone for a toss and I was fighting the battle of bulge,I realised that obesity also affects our mental wellbeing,” adds the actress.

Talking about the recent films,Tandon says that a mixture of sensible as well as glamour based cinema cointinues to dominate the celluloid these days. “Our films have enormously improved over time- especially the dances that have greatly advanced yet somehow they need a skin show to pull in audience which was not the case when I did dance sequences in most of my films. I would still like to see good songs and dances although I have left much of it behind to do more serious cinema,” says the actress.
