Riding on last years success,’Impulse 09′ targets a larger audience this time, with 550 participants having already enrolled for it
It began as a small inter-IT dance competition in 2008 with just eight teams. But Impulse is on its way to becoming one of the biggest cultural events of the year 2009. Impulse09,which will consist of a total of eight events,is a great relief for working professionals who want to showcase their talents to the public and get a refreshing change from their hectic professional life. This cultural festival, which is scheduled to start from October 2,includes eight events like solo singing, group dancing, painting, rangoli, rock band which covers almost a variety of cultural facets. After the initial rounds in each competition, the final will be a gala event held on October 4 at Krishna Sunder Gardens,Erandwane.
I am expecting a turnout of around 8,000 people and 550 participants for this years event, says Shailesh Deshmukh, one of the founders of Unknown Waters, the event management company organising this event. I feel immense pleasure in providing such a creative cultural platform for all the professionals who want to explore their talent, he commented candidly. Deshmukh says he has taken care to ensure that this event doesnt become like one of the many held throughout the year. We have planned an orientation session for the participants of all the competitions, where the appointed mentors will guide them through all the dos and donts, he asserts. The mentors are the masters in their fields like Rahul Ranade a veteran musician,Tanushree a well-known dancer and Dhananjay Sataskar.
Impulse was a hit among IT professionals last year and this year too,it is expected to generate a lot of hype. Rachit Tiwari,a senior software programmer from Cognizant Technology Solutions, who immensely enjoyed the event last year says,It was a great event for dance lovers like me and the judging was fair enough. I am really looking forward to the event this year and will try my best to win, says Tiwari. But Rachit also felt that last year the events publicity was not up to the mark,as most companies missed out on it. Responding to this,Shailesh Dehmukh replies that this time around,a lot of effort has been invested and around 100 companies have been already contacted,to make the event an even greater success than it was last year.
