When Gaikwad was asked about threats to Sena leader Arjun Khotkar and his son, Gaikwad told reporters in Buldgana, “We keep getting threats. Those who do good work in society keep getting threats. When attempts were made to blow up my vehicle, what action did the police take? There was no investigation.”

Gaikwad  described the Maharashtra police as “most inefficient” in the world. ”There is no police department in the world which is as inefficient as the Maharashtra police. If the Maharashtra Government brings in a new law, the police hafta (bribe) goes up. If the government bans gutkha, their hafta increases. If the government bans liquor, their hafta goes up. If the police in Maharashtra and the country work honestly, then all the crime in the world will come to an end. Only condition is that the police should do their job honestly,” he said.

Gaikwad said, “I recently read that one police officer was the mastermind of thieves. In Buldhana, two policemen were partners with two thieves. If they go to catch the thieves, they would in advance make a phone call to them in a bid to alert them. The policemen used to hide the recovered booty in their own homes.”

Gaikwad said if the police raid a place and recover Rs 50 lakh, they will show the amount as Rs 50,000. “If the police take a vow that they will not do anything wrong, then all the crime from the state will disappear,” he said.
