Saturday night proved to be the perfect setting for music lovers as the Senior Citizens Club of Sahakarnagar,Pune organised a music programme,which saw a recital by Ajaya Jatar. Aptly titled Swar-Rang,the evening saw Jatar perform songs that ranged from Indian classical ragas to old Marathi songs. Speaking more about the event,Yashodhan Jatar,who accompanied her on the Tabla says,“The club organises events like these every month and this month we were invited to perform. Keeping in mind the diverse nature of the crowd we presented songs,which not only generated their interest but also took them back to their own roots which they are strongly associated with.” The programme was held at the Muktangan Balranjan Kendra and saw Jatar start her performance with a recital of Raga Bheempalas by a bandish in madhya laya Ektaal followed by a bandish in drut laya Teentaal. She also presented a few Marathi stage songs and devotional songs. Arwind Deshpande accompanied her on the harmonium,Uma Jatar on the violin,Yashodhan Jatar on the Tabla and Vasant Korde on rhythm instrument.
