Organisers say the workshop aims at providing a scientific approach to cope with problems faced by women, ensuring their socio-economic development. Coordinator Dipalee Malkhede explained, “It is often seen that despite completing post-graduation and research degrees, women do not get jobs. If they have scientific research proposals, they do not receive adequate funding and the idea gets dropped. However there are various women researchers-oriented schemes by DST and NASI that scientists can avail of, especially if their research proposals are society-oriented.”

The workshop will also address the problem of continuing work after marriage and kids. “After marriage, we often see women taking a break. Returning to mainstream research becomes tough. But there are many avenues for such women who can submit proposals for entrepreneurial projects and get funding too.

The workshop also aims to cover researchers who have dropped out,” Malkhede added.
