(Express File photo) More than 500 women professors from across the state attended a one-day conference on women empowerment jointly organised by Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Department and Savitribai Phule Pune University.
Vice Chancellor of SNDT University, Ujjwala Chakradeo, said, “There is no other way to empower women but education.”
The event was chaired by Neelam Gorhe, Deputy Chairperson of Maharashtra Legislative Council, and inaugurated by Chandrakant Patil, Minister of Higher and Technical Education in Maharashtra.
Anju Uppal, Principal of Maharashtra State Faculty Development Academy stressed the need for sustainable and inclusive education.
“The provision of skill-based courses in National Education Policy 2020 will make it easier for women to study as per their choice. Everyone has different interests and they should be guided accordingly.”
Principal of CCYM’s Hashu Advani School of Special Education, Asmita Huddar advocated for rights of the disabled.
She said, “We have to change the way we look at disabled people because their battle is also ours.”
Pradnya Sarvade, Additional Director General, Maharashtra Police, was also present at the event along with government and university officials.
