The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a state transport driver Ravindra Shankar Shinde (45) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a tempo driver.

Santosh Babanrao Bhosale,a resident of Bhor, had lodged a complaint with the ACB in this regard. According to the ACB,the flying squad of regional transport office (RTO) had issued a memo to Bhosale for illegally using his jeep for private transport around 4.30 pm on April 2.

Bhosale was supposed to pay a fine of about Rs 10,000 to the RTO. But Shinde,a driver with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation, who was also a part of the flying squad, approached Bhosale and demanded Rs 6,000 for settling the matter. Shinde took Rs 2,300 from Bhosale and asked him to come to a city hotel with the remaining amount on Wednesday. Bhosale, however, approached the ACB.

A team led by deputy superintendent Padmakar Ghanwat caught Shinde red-handed while he was accepting money from Bhosale. An offence has been registered against Shinde at the Duttawadi police station. Inspector Sadananda Belsare is investigating the case.
