There is tremendous opportunity in reverse engineering as several products go off patent and import substitution can create good money and employment for budding entrepreneurs, said Shekhar Kulkarni, who runs Maink Engineering, which manufactures valves and promotes reverse engineering, here on Friday.
Kulkarni was speaking at a seminar on reverse engineering at the International Convention Centre in Marriott. The reverse engineering sector is a largely untapped manufacturing and marketing opportunity. I can only provide you the map for the treasure to be found,it’s you who have to cover the journey, he said. Kulkarni also demonstrated products such as a battery-operated fan, reading stand, paper cutter and a double glass with liquid in between creating an illusion and a magnetic apparatus for hiding keys.
The seminar, organised by The Indus Entrepreneurship (TIE),a non-profit organisation that works towards promoting entrepreneurship, was conducted by Kulkarni. Kulkarni is an alumnus of IIT Bombay and also holds an MBA from the University of Pune.
