A probe has been initiated after stones were pelted at the Bandra Terminus Jaipur Superfast Express train late Wednesday night in Navsari, said officials. While a window was damaged, nobody was hurt in the incident, they added.

According to the details received from Western Railway authorities, the incident took place near the Maroli railway station between Navsari and Surat district. The train was headed from Jaipur to Mumbai when some unidentified stone pelters targeted the train.

Speaking with The Indian Express, Navsari Railway Protection Force Police (RPF) Inspector K P Singh said, “The stone hit the window of seat number 41 and 42 in B/3 coach of the train. The passengers seated on the window seats were not hurt but the glass of the window broke into pieces. The passengers informed about the incident to the escorting RPF police team. Later, the train was brought to a halt for a few minutes at the station. The journey resumed as the authorities found that nobody was hurt.”

“We have registered an offence under Railway Act’s Section 154 against unknown persons. Earlier such incidents had taken place and we have arrested some of the youths. Our teams are probing into the incident and we will definitely catch the accused in the coming days. With the upcoming festival season, we have intensified patrolling outside the railway station,” he added.
