Sources said Padmaja Venugopal, daughter of veteran Congress leader K Karunakaran, is all set to be inducted into the party. The BJP seems to be in an aggressive mode in Kerala ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. After naming Anil Antony, son of Congress leader A K Antony, as its candidate from Pathanamthitta constituency, the party is trying to win over another “Congress family member”. Sources said Padmaja Venugopal, daughter of veteran Congress leader K Karunakaran, is all set to be inducted into the party. Although Padmaja, an office-bearer of the Kerala Congress unit, doesn’t have a remarkable electoral record, her joining the BJP would certainly be a big boost for the party in the state, said BJP leaders. Padmaja, who lost elections thrice — LS polls in 2004 and Assembly elections in 2016, 2021 — could be fielded in this Lok Sabha elections, sources said.

Around 1,000 people are visiting the complex every day and the exercise will continue till all the interested people across the constituency have seen the plant, said sources. BJP leaders are making arrangements for conveyance and lunch for the visitors, who are also being given certificates for touring the plant. As Modi is the BJP’s candidate from Varanasi, the party leaders are showcasing the project as a model of development done by PM.
