BJP chief J P Nadda chaired a meeting of the party’s national general secretaries in Delhi on Monday, which is being seen as the final push to complete the groundwork to elect the new national president. Organisational elections to the state units of some big states, including Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, are yet to take place and the party needs at least 18 state units in place before the process for the national president’s election can take off. Last Saturday, Nadda had chaired a meeting of the core committee of the party’s Tamil Nadu unit.
