The first 100 days in office has always been a marker in the BJP to assess the performance of a leader. But former Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar — who had installed a countdown clock in his ministerial chamber to meet his targets — seems to be setting new standards. His team has prepared a report listing what all he has done in the first 50 days as the Kerala BJP president. The report says he has appointed over 600 district office-bearers in 30 organisational districts, held 30 district conventions with the participation of 20,000 office-bearers, formed 8,500 booth committees comprising 85,000 booth workers, appointed 1 lakh ward-level workers and conducted 1,400 training camps to train 1 lakh workers for the local body elections.
The Central Public Works Department, which is constructing some of the government’s key projects, including the Central Vista redevelopment project, has been without a full-time Director General for six months now. And it looks like the wait will go on. In an unusual move, the government had given the additional charge of the post to an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs in November last year. This week, the Ministry has extended the arrangement for another three months, as the initial six-month period ended.
One-Year Rule
Besides spreading the word on Operation Sindoor through all-party delegations abroad and Tiranga yatras at home, the government is already preparing to mark one year of its third term, which falls on June 9. Over the last few weeks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken a series of review meetings with various ministries on their key schemes. To mark one year of Modi 3.0, as per sources, Union ministers will hold a series of press conferences and also use social media to highlight the achievements in the last one year, as a continuation of 11 years of the Modi government.
