Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar received what he saw as a surprising notice from TMC MP Sagarika Ghosh for suspension of business under Rule 267. The Chairman was taken aback because the notice, received at 1.36 PM on March 26, wanted the suspension of business on March 20. “Now, and this is at two places in the notice, I will urge you to be a little serious about parliamentary work. How can on any ground your Chairman accord acceptance by suspending proceedings that have already taken place?” Dhankhar sought to know. “I cannot, even if I want, suspend on this day proceedings of 20th March. Even Artificial Intelligence has not gone to that level to help me in the line,” he said.

Weeks after 2002-batch IFS officer J P Singh was appointed as India’s Ambassador to Israel, a movie based on Singh’s life will be screened by the host country as a rare gesture of friendship between the two countries. Recently released film ‘The Diplomat’ features actor John Abraham as Singh, and is set against the backdrop of India-Pakistan relations. Singh was till recently serving as the joint secretary on the Ministry of External Affairs’ Pakistan-Afghanistan-Iran desk.
