A few days after the Health Ministry announced that the new National Exit Test (NExT), which the current final year MBBS batch was to appear for, has been “deferred” until further notice, AIIMS Delhi has also announced cancellation of the mock test for the same.
“In this regard, it is hereby informed that as per communication received from NMC and the decision of the competent authority, the Mock/ Practice Test of National Exit Test (NExT) scheduled to be held on 28th July 2023 stands cancelled,” the official notification states.
Since the registration process was completed, AIIMS Delhi will now also initiate the fee refund process for the registered candidates. “The refund process of registration fees of candidates who have registered and paid fees for the Mock/ Practice National Exit Test (NExT) has been initiated, and the registration fee will be refunded in due course of time in the respective account from which payment was made,” the notification added.
As of now, no further dates have been provided for the mock test of the NExT exam.
The health minister had earlier this month made the announcement that the next batch to pass MBBS would be brought under the ambit of the new examination. However, if the exam is not conducted in the current year, the government will need to notify it in the gazette as the the test was required to be conducted within three years of the National Medical Commission act coming into force in 2020. The deadline was extended by a year to 2024 by a gazette notification.
