Bihar Board BSEB 12th Result 2021 HIGHLIGHTS: Girls perform better, overall pass percentage dips

A total of 78.04 per cent students cleared the intermediate exam successfully, with girls at 80.57 per cent pass percentage fared better in the overall pass percentage than boys whose pass percentage is 75.71 per cent.

It's been hours since the intermediate result declared at 3 pm today, the official website-  biharboardonline.com is not working. Nearly 13.50 lakh students who are enrolled for this year's exam are yet to get their result.

In the science stream, Sonali Kumari has topped with 471 marks. Sunanda Kumari is the topper in commerce stream, while Madhu Bharti and Kailash Kumar Jamui are joint toppers in arts stream.

The pass percentage in intermediate exam was 78.04 per cent this year, dropped from 80.44 per cent last year. 

The pass percentage also dropped stream wise, in the commerce stream, it was dropped from 93.26 per cent last year to 91.48 per cent this year, in arts stream, the pass percentage dropped from 81.44 per cent to 77.97 per cent, while in science stream it was a marginal dip from 77.39 per cent to 76.2 per cent this year. 

In the science stream, Sonali Kumari has topped with 471 marks. Sunanda Kumari was the topper in commerce stream, while Madhu Bharti and Kailash Kumar from arts. 

The pass percentage of the Bihar Board (BSEB) intermediate examination touched 78.04 per cent this year. The pass percentage of arts stream was at 77.97 per cent, commerce stream touched at 91.48 per cent while the pass percentage in science stream was at 76.28 per cent

Bihar Board (BSEB) chairman Anand Kishor has been conferred with the outstanding educational leader award by the Jagran Josh Education Awards 2021. He was awarded for his exemplary contribution to education especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The award was presented by Education Minister Ramesh Pokriyal Nishank

The state education minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary will announce the intermediate result today at 3 pm in presence of Chief Secretary of the Education Department Sanjay Kumar, and board chairman Anand Kishore.

After the infamous incident of 2016, when the BSEB topper did not know answers to basic questions, the board has started verifying the answer scripts of top-scoring students. For the current year, due to the pandemic, the verification is being conducted through WhatsApp-based video conferencing

A total of 12,04,834 students appeared in the Intermediate Annual Examination last year out of which 6,56,301 boys and 5,48,533 were girls. Furthermore, a total of 4,43,284 students have passed in the first class, 4,69,439 students in the second class and 56,115 students in the third class.

The Bihar Board has shifted towards having 50 per cent objective type questions in the exam. The move has been introduced to assess students on their conceptual clarity but this has also resulted in a faster result and higher pass percentage. Further, more than 20 per cent internal choice is also given to the students.

Amid coronavirus pandemic, the Bihar board BSEB will announce the results of the intermediate, class 12 examination on Friday, March 26. The state education minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary will announce the intermediate result today at 3 pm in presence of Chief Secretary of the Education Department Sanjay Kumar, and board chairman Anand Kishore. 

In case a student fails in one subject only by not more than 8 per cent marks or in two subjects by not more than 4 per cent marks in each, he/she will be given the marks he/she is short of. If someone has obtained 75 per cent marks in aggregate but has failed in one subject only by not more then 10 per cent marks and cannot be allowed to pass under any other regulation, will be declared to have passed

From this year, the 50-mark language papers have been converted to one 100-marks exam. The number of additional subjects has also increased. In line with CBSE, students have the option to select six subjects and the best of five will be calculated. Students have the option to chose an elective subject. In case a student fails in one of the major subjects, the marks of the elective subject will be counted

Nearly 13.50 lakh students appeared in the intermediate, class 12 exams held from February 1 to 13. The exam was held in two sessions, morning from  9:30 am to 12:45 pm and afternoon from 1:45 pm to 5 pm

In order to pass the intermediate exam, a candidate must obtain 30 per cent of total marks in the theory portion of each subject and 40 per cent of total marks in practical of each subject.
