NTA started the process of CUET 2022 registration in late hours of Wednesday. Interested candidates can now visit CUET website — cuet.samarth.ac.in — to apply for this year's newly-introduced entrance exam.

The NTA will conduct the entrance exam of CUET 2022 in two slots. The first slot consists of one language test, two domain-specific papers, and a general test. The second slot of the CUET exam 2022 includes four domain-specific subjects and one optional language subject. The syllabus of the CUET will be mirrored with the Class 12 model syllabus of NCERT.

Section I has been divided into two parts- 

Section IA is a 45-minutes long compulsory section. This section will focus on assessment of language skills. Students will be tested on their English language skills and one other Indian language — Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Urdu, Assamese, Bengali, Punjabi, Odia.

Section IB is only for students who aim to pursue an undergraduate programme in languages. For this, candidates have to choose from a list of 19 languages — French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian and Chinese.

The CUET 2022 exam is scheduled to take place in the first and second week of July 2022. However, no set date has been announced by the NTA yet. The date will soon be declared on official CUET website — cuet.samarth.ac.in — or NTA website — nta.ac.in.

The UGC Chairman has made it clear that students need not take any extra coaching to appear for CUET 2022. The reason behind his claim is that the questions and syllabus for CUET will strictly be limited to the NCERT books and syllabus. 

However, it is being reported that there has been a surge in enrolment in coaching classes for CUET.

All wrong answers in CUET 2022 will have negative marking. The CUET is a computer-based exam which will have multiple choice questions (MCQ format). Read more

Candidates should keep the following list of documents ready for the CUET 2022 application process.

— Class 10 and 12 marksheet

— Scanned passport size photograph

— Scanned image of the signature

— ID Proof (Aadhar card, driving license, passport etc)

— Caste certificate (if applicable)

The application process was earlier scheduled to begin on April 2, 2022. Later, the NTA had announced towards the end of April 2 that the registration will now take place between April 6 and May 6, 2022. However, the application link has still not been made live by the authorities yet.

Several coaching centres, which were not providing coaching for CUET earlier such as KD Campus and Success Mantra, have also started or are in the process of providing coaching for the test in the wake of increasing demand. Read more

The NTA says that in case the desired subject is not available in the list of 27, the candidate should choose the closest option available.

“Generally, the languages/subjects chosen should be the ones that a student has opted for in their latest Class XII Board examination. However, if any University permits any flexibility in this regard, the same can be exercised under CUET (UG) -2022 also. Candidates must carefully refer to the eligibility requirements of various Central Universities in this regard,” the NTA stated. Read more

“The second section of the entrance exam consists of 27 domain-specific topics. The third section is based on General Knowledge which will be for admission to BA Program only,” Dean Admissions Haneet Gandhi said. Additionally, aspiring to pursue UG programmes at DU will have to choose at least three subjects from the second section, which has been divided into two parts. Read more

International students who are seeking admission to any of the Indian central universities, will not have to appear for CUET. Their admissions will be carried out on the existing supernumerary basis.

'Today we have permitted the students to do up to 40% of their credits, anywhere outside their own institution, and parallel to this we have also created the academic bank of credit. Sooner we are also going to come up with modifications which will enable some of the top universities in our country to offer online programmes without even any permission from UGC,' M Jagadesh Kumar said at India Education Summit 2022. Yes, as long as the student is eligible for the course/stream as per the university guidelines, candidates do not have to limit themselves to one stream. Candidates should make sure they choose domain and language courses according to the eligibility criteria of the undergraduate programme they aim to pursue.

CUET 2022 will be a LAN based CBT (Computer Based Test) and all the questions for this entrance exam will be in MCQ form.

To get admission to an undergraduate programme at the University of Delhi, it is compulsory for the candidates to appear in at least one language test, out of both parts — Section IA and IB — combined, instructed Dean Admissions Haneet Gandhi.

All participating universities will have to register on the National Testing Agency (NTA) website, but will not be charged any fees for the same, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagdesh Kumar has informed all stakeholders. 

While CUET is compulsory for all 45 central universities funded by UGC, the quota of reserved seats in minority institutions such as AMU and JMI will not change. These universities will have to adopt the entrance test criteria for admissions, but the UGC has permitted all participating universities to keep their minority quotas unchanged. Read more

The CUET 2022 application form can be rejected for multiple reasons, hence all applicants should not make these mistakes and fill the form carefully:

— Avoid uploading a blurred image of your signature.

— Use plain white paper as the background while scanning the image.

— Make sure you scan and upload the qualification certificates as demanded by the application form.

— Make sure to apply for the programme that you are eligible for as if the eligibility requirements are not matched, the CUET 2022 application will be rejected.

The NTA provides the option of retrieving the application number of CUET 2022 registration to the candidates. To recover their application number, candidates should follow the following steps:

Step 1: Visit the official website of NTA CUET (cuet.samarth.ac.in).

Step 2: Click on the "CUET UG Registration" tab after the link is opened.

Step 3: Candidates will get the option to retrieve the application number.

Step 4: Select the option and enter your official registered email address.

Step 5: The candidates will receive their CUET application number at their registered email address.

While the exact date for CUET 2022 has not been revealed yet, it has been announced that the entrance exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in the first and second week of July.

Nearly 25 universities in Karnataka will now be using CUET scores for admission in undergraduate programmes including BA, BSc and BCom.

“Today I had a meeting with vice-chancellors of 25 state universities from Karnataka to discuss the common university entrance test (CUET). The VCs have supported the introduction of CUET and have agreed to use CUET for admissions in BA, BSc, BCom and similar programmes,” the UGC Chairman in a social media post said today,” UGC chairman Jagadesh Kuma tweeted. The Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) was launched in 2010 under the UPA-II government but failed as merely 14 central universities had adopted the test until last year. While there's not much difference, CUET is a revamped version of CUCET. It is compulsory for all the 45 central universities to adopt it. Read more

A total of 96.56 lakh students were pursuing BA in 2019-20; 47.1% of them were male and 52.9% female. Another 47.55 lakh students (48.7% male, 51.3% female) were in BSc and 41.6 lakh (51.2% male, 48.8% female) in BCom. Engineering and technology had 37.27 lakh, with the break-up skewed towards male students (70.8%). In contrast, medical courses at UG level had a higher number of female students, at 59.5% out of 13.5 lakh. Read more

The UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar answered several questions related to CUET 2022, for which the registration is set to begin soon.

The answer to this depends on the individual universities. UGC has said that if a university allows students, who have cleared the class 12 exams in the past few years, to seek admission, then they can also appear for CUET 2022. Read more

The section of the general test in CUET will test a candidate's knowledge in relation to general knowledge, current affairs, general mental ability, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning, logical and analytical reasoning among others. Read more

Section IB is designed to assess the students who are aiming to secure a place in language-based undergraduate programme. The students can choose from: French, Spanish, German, Nepali, Persian, Italian, Arabic, Sindhi, Kashmiri, Konkani, Bodo, Dogri, Maithili, Manipuri, Santhali, Tibetan, Japanese, Russian and Chinese.

CUET is giving an option of 27 domain subjects. This section is designed to assess a candidate’s command over core subjects they wish to pursue at the undergraduate level. Candidates can choose up to six subjects from a list of 27.

It has been repeatedly made clear that the syllabus for CUET will strictly be limited to the class 12 NCERT books. This has been decided to ensure that no children are forced to take up extra coaching classes. This will help the authorities ensure that uniformity in syllabus/questions and also ensure that the test is accessible to all, and children from underprivileged areas do not have any discomfort. Delhi University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh announced on Tuesday that the university is now moving away from the cut-off system and instead adopting a merit list. However, due to this, colleges will now have 30 per cent additional students, in case of dropouts or withdrawals. 

Students aiming for an ECA quota (Sports and Extracurricular Activities) will have to go through trials, and certificates will also be considered along with their CUET score. Read more
