Delhi Nursery Admission 2025 1st Merit List Updates: Merit list out, query resolution facility opens

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation-run Mumbai Public Schools, which offer non-state board curriculum such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Indian Certificate of School Education (ICSE), continue to get overwhelming response to its call for admissions. As the admission application process for the academic year 2025-26 concluded on Wednesday, a total of 2,459 applications have been received for 1,242 seats available in a total of 21 MPS offering various non-state board curriculums.

These applications are all for nursery class admissions which is the entry level stage in pre-primary section at any school. BMC education officer Rajesh Kankal said, “This clearly indicates great response for civic schools in Mumbai. This decision to offer more popular non-state board curriculums in MPS has really attracted many parents to civic schools of varied demographics. We now see children from well-to-do-families taking admission in MPS due to good quality of education coupled with many facilities that are offered to students at civic schools.”

The age relaxation for admission of up to 30 days may be granted at the level of heads of schools in the classes’ minimum and upper age limit. The parents can approach the heads of schools or principals to seek age relaxation through a manual application

According to the Directorate of Education, these are some of the documents that are considered valid proof of address for admission to nursery, KG and Class 1:
– Ration card or a smart card issued in the name of the parents (mother or father having name of child)
– Domicile certificate of child or of his/ her parents
– Voter card (EPIC) of any of the parents
– Electricity bill/ MTNL telephone bill/ water bill/ passport in the name of the parents or child
– Aadhaar Card/ UID card issued in the name of any of the parents

--For general category seats, the last date for the submission of registration forms was December 20, 2024. The department then had time till January 3 to upload details of children who have applied for admission under open seats.

--Following this, by January 10, the marks of the children were uploaded.

--The first list of selected students will be available by January 17, and the window for allotment-related queries will be open from January 18 to January 27.

--If needed, the department will release a second list of selected children on February 3 and the resolution window for the same will be open from February 5 to February 11.

--The admission process is scheduled to conclude on March 14, 2025 officially.

Answer: For admission in pre-school (nursery), pre-primary (KG) and Class-1, the minimum age as on March 31 should be three years, four years and five years respectively, according to the Directorate of Education. Pre-school, pre-primary and Class-1 are classified as entry-level classes and the upper age limit for admission is less than four years, less than five years, and less than six years, respectively.

In the event of a tie among applicants for admission to nursery, KG and Class 1, a draw of lots will be conducted, either using a computerised system or by drawing slips in the presence of parents. The circular stated that the draw would be videographed and the school would retain the footage.
