Department of Biotechnology announces new interdisciplinary research programme in biosciences

It includes a three-month immersion programme, supported by additional grant to expose students to real-world challenges and aims to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship among young scientists.

The Department of Biotechnology under the Ministry of Science and Technology today announced the launch of a new interdisciplinary research programme in biosciences. The new programme has been introduced as a collaborative initiative among the institutions of BRIC (iBRIC), RCB and ICGEB and seeks to promote excellence in biotechnology research and education in India. The i3c (ideate, immerse, innovate, collaborate) BRIC-RCB PhD programme in biosciences official website is rcb.res.in/i3c. Application dates and registration details are awaited.

The interdisciplinary PhD programme in biosciences will be offered to students with a master’s degree in life sciences and medicine graduates and BTech/BE in non-biological sciences.

The programme, as per the official website, will provide learning opportunities in the fields of life sciences and biotechnology through classroom and online teaching, workshops and hands-on training in high-end technology platforms. 

It includes a three-month immersion programme, supported by an additional grant to expose students to real-world challenges and aims to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship among young scientists.

Following the course work and the immersion programme, the scholars, based on their respective areas of research interest, would join the various institutions in BRIC (iBRICs),  RCB or ICGEB under suitable supervisors to conduct their doctoral research.
