The HPBoSE class 10 board exams were cancelled due to increasing COVID-19 cases. The students will be evaluated on the basis of their performances in the first term, second term, pre-board and internal assessment exams held during the academic year 2020-21. This year, the board will promote all students to class 11.

Last year, as per the data shared by the board, of over 1.04 lakh students who appeared for the exam, 70,571 students – 68.11 per cent – managed to clear the exam. Further, 5,617 students had to appear for the compartmental exam while the rest had failed. In 2019, 60.79 per cent of students had cleared the exam.
Among the general category students, the pass percentage was 71.56 per cent in 2020, while it is 62.59 per cent and 63.88 per cent for scheduled caste and scheduled tribe category students, respectively.

The HP board has not declared the class 10 merit list as some students will appear for the special Hindi exam on July 12. The merit list will be declared after the result of the Hindi exam is announced.
The HP Board of School Education (HPBoSE) released the Class 10 results today. The students who did not appear in the Hindi paper conducted on April 13 by the board can now appear for a re-examination on July 12. As per the marks tabulation policy of the board, the marks obtained in the annual Hindi paper conducted on April 13 were taken as a result declaration component. The HPBoSE has activated the link to check the matric (Class 10) result. The candidates can check their marks at https://www.hpbose.org/Result/MatricResult.aspx?E=1. However, the students may find it difficult to access their scorecard due to the heavy traffic on the board's website.
A total of 10,015 students have got 90-100 marks this year. TIn 2020, only 3098 students had achieved a score in the range of 90-100. The number of 90 marks and above scorers was only 2798 in 2019.
Students are unable to check the HPBoSE class 10 result through the official website www.hpbose.org as the website is down with traffic. Candidates are unable to check the result. The link has also not been activated yet.
As the board has taken the Hindi exam as a major component, some students had tested Covid positive and could not take the exam. Such students were awarded passing marks in the Hindi exam. "Now such candidates are feeling aggrieved to have received only passing marks. The HPBoSE will conduct a special Hindi exam for such candidates. The exam will be held on July 12 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm," the notice read.
The HPBoSE in its official notice has said that the annual Hindi paper conducted by the board on April 13 was also taken as a result declaration component. "There is a provision of awarding weightage of 5 marks to all subjects of class 10 exams on the basis of marks obtained in annual Hindi exam," the official notice read.
This year, the pass percentage has been recorded to be 99.7 per cent. Hence, 0.3 per cent students have not been promoted to class 11.

As per an initial order from the Supreme Court, all the state boards need to declare the class 10 and 12 board results before July 31 to ensure uniformity across state boards and for college admissions to start on time.
The HPBoSE has not confirmed any new result declaration date. It is being speculated that the result will be declared only after the court's direction. More inputs are awaited from the board.
A total of 1,16,954 students enrolled for class 10 exams this year. With the sudden postponement of results, students are now waiting to check their marks.

A total of 35,811 female students had cleared the 10th exam successfully in 2020, while 34,560 male students became successful. A total of 68.11 per cent students cleared the class 10 exam successfully in 2020, compared to 2019 when the pass percentage was 60.79 per cent.
