IIM CAT Admit Card 2020 HIGHLIGHTS: Download hall ticket now, follow direct link

The Common Admission Test (CAT 2020) admit card will be available to download at the official website- iimcat.ac.in. The candidates can download it by entering user id and password. Hall ticket will appear on the screen. Download, and take a printout for further reference.

This year, there was a change in the exam pattern considering the COVID-19 scenario. The duration of CAT exam has been reduced from three to two hours. As per the sectional time duration of CAT, it has been reduced to 40 minutes from 60 minutes with each section – verbal ability and reading comprehension, data interpretation and logical reasoning, and quantitative ability – getting 40 minutes each.

The CAT admit card link is available at the official website- iimcat.ac.in. To download, the applicant needs to click on the ‘download admit card’ link. Enter the user id and password. Hall ticket will appear on the screen. Download, and take a printout for further reference

After 25 years, since it introduced in 1984, the Common Admission Test (CAT) changed to computer-based (CBT) mode in 2009. Prometric India Private Limited, the online testing partner, designed the software for the first CBT examination. The examination witnessed lots of technical glitches, which finally resulted in re-examination.

The IIM-Ahmadabad conducted the examination again in January 2010. 

Nearly, 2.30 lakh (2,27,835) had applied to appear for CAT this year as against 2.44 lakh last year. The number of applicants is the lowest since 2016.

CAT convener Harshal Lowalekar said that the drop was natural given the COVID scenario. “In fact, we expected the registrations to be much lower than 2.28 lakh this year based on the trend observed in the other national-level competitive exams,” said Harshal.

Verbal ability and reading comprehension

Grammar, Verbal Reasoning, Syllogisms, Sentence completion, Fill in the blanks, Jumbled paragraphs, Para Completion and inference, Foreign language words used in English, Contextual usage, Reading Comprehension, Sentence correction, Analogies, Different usage of same word, Idioms, Verbal Logic, Antonyms, One word substitution, parajumbles.

With the introduction of the Common Admission Test in 1984, over the years, the management entrance examination underwent multiple changes. Earlier, the test was conducted in pen and paper mode, which switched to computer-based or online mode from 2009.

The IIM-Ahmedabad conducted the first computer-based CAT in 2009, but since the entrance examination faced several technical glitches, a re-test was held in January 2010.

A total of 2,27,835 candidates had applied to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT 2020) this year to be held on November 29. The exam will be held in test centres spread across around 156 cities

In CAT 2019 result, at least 10 candidates scored an overall 100 percentile. All the candidates were male and are from an engineering or technology background. The time of the exam has been revised this year. The revised duration of the test will be 120 minutes. There will be three sections - verbal ability, reading comprehension, data interpretation and logical reasoning, and quantitative ability. Candidates will be allotted exactly 40 minutes for answering questions in each section and they will not be allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section.

IIM-Indore will hold the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2020 on November 29. Those who clear the exam will be eligible for admission to IIMs and other B-schools based on CAT score. The admit card of the exam will be released today at iimcat.ac.in. As per the official notice, the admit card will be released at 5 pm.
