CAT 2024 Result Date Updates: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has released the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 result at iimcat.ac.in. This year, 14 candidates have scored 100 percentile of which only one is woman. Moreover, 13 aspirants are from an engineering background while only one is a non-engineer, as per IIM-C.
The provisional answer was published on December 3, and the candidates were given time till December 5 to raise objections. No changes are made in the provisional answer keys.
The experts analysed that CAT 2024 was easier as compared to the last two years’ examination. Further, they expect that the exam can have a higher cut-off. Of the 2.93 lakh candidates who appeared for the exam, 1.07 lakh are female candidates, 1.86 lakh are male candidates and 5 are transgender candidates.

The CAT Centre received a total of 405 objections against the CAT 2024 provisional answer key. The 405 objections were received across three sections and three shifts.

Interested candidates can apply for either “Advanced E-SDP for New Venture Creation”, or “6-Day Advanced MDP for Business Scale-Up for MSMEs”. The last date to apply for these engaging programs is January 12, 2025.
The Advanced E-SDP for New Venture Creation will run from February 3 to 7, while the Advanced MDP for Business Scale-Up for MSMEs will be held from February 3 till 8. Both the programmes are free of cost and funded by ESDP, MSME, with no participant fees required.
The Indian Institute of Management, Mumbai (IIM Mumbai) has concluded its placement season for the 2025 batch, achieving a record-breaking highest package of Rs 54 lakh per annum. As many as 78 companies participated and a total of 373 offers were made.
A key highlight of this year’s IIM Mumbai placements was Coca-Cola offering the highest internship stipend of Rs 5 lakh, setting a new benchmark for business internships. Other recruiters such as Microsoft, Amazon, Accenture, and FMCG giants drove the recruitment momentum, with Microsoft offering the top annual package.
The placement season, which began on November 25, showcased a remarkable 15 per cent growth in average stipends, underscoring the institute’s commitment to aligning academia with industry requirements.

Academic Performance: Performance in Class 10, Class 12, and graduation plays a significant role. Consistently high marks can boost chances significantly.

In IIM Sambalpur, women have outnumbered men with 76 per cent enrolment, the highest among all IIMs. This is an increase of about 20 per cent from 57.99 per cent in the last academic session.
The flagship course of IIM Kashipur has recorded 42 per cent women students, overturning the gender equation of the campus that had admitted around 35 per cent women students last year – an increase of 7 per cent in one year. The MBA-Analytics cohort has 75 per cent women students this session, surpassing last year’s tally of 69 per cent women candidates. IIM Kashipur is a second-generation IIM and is placed in the 19th rank.

In the reading comprehension (RC) sections, there were five long comprehensions. According to Sumit Singh Gandhi, CEO and Founder of CATKing, two RCs were the ‘odd ones out’ while the rest three were not very tough or easy. The quantitative ability had 14-15 questions, which were direct formula application questions and the exam consisted of various questions from speed distance and time, ratio, profit and loss, probability, arithmetic, algebra, series questions and geometry.
Apart from these courses, these IIMs have also started some certificate or short-duration courses for experienced candidates having requisite educational qualifications along with working experience. For the academic session 2025, we have compiled some of the week-long courses, and demand more than one lakh from the candidates.
For instance, a course titled ‘Understanding Bhagavad Gita: A Journey Towards Leadership Excellence’ is offered by IIM Ahmedabad (IIM-A). The course starts on January 27 and will end on January 30. Around 60 firms participated in the summer placement including Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) with nine offers, followed by Adobe, Tata Steel and Silver Consumer at five offers. Other companies that participated in the IIM Ahmedabad campus placement cluster 3 were: Microsoft, Sprinklr, Salesforce, Innovapptive, Ola, Practus, Black Brix, Suzuki Japan, Saint Gobain, Tata Steel, Forbes Marshall, Thyssenkrupp, Italica Granito, FinIQ Consulting, HDFC Ergo, Axis Bank, IIFL, SMBC, Next Bharat Ventures, Samsung Electronics, Boult Audio, Zaggle and Progcap among others.
Last year, engineers dominated the top ranks. In the group of candidates who scored 100 percentiles, 11 candidates were from engineering background and 3 from non-engineering.
IIMs and other top management institutes select candidates on their CAT percentile score, WAT/GD and PI performance and their academic history, gender diversity, and work experience. Some IIMs have also scrapped the written test round. IIMs also give importance to diversity.

CAT Result 2024 Updates: Around 2.93 lakh candidates appeared for the exam out of 3.29 lakh registered eligible candidates. The overall attendance was approximately 89 per cent, as per IIM-Calcutta. The IIM-CAT exam results will be determined through a normalisation process that considers multiple factors — percentile distributions, mean, median, and both the highest and lowest scores.
